Salto vocale is presented as a pocket-sized concert, economical in resources but rich in the freedom that Bernard possesses, admittedly polymorphic. More than a musical set, this is therefore a show that mixes music with some touches of humor well balanced like a real clown act.

The latest opus after La voix est libre and Itizzz…some sing, Salto Vocale once again gives pride of place to the voice in all its states, in all its splendor. This show, which was born in Marchin, Belgium, in 2013, is of course still on the road: from Brazil to Austria, it meets warm and welcoming audiences.

A new repertoire, always devoid of words, where the vocal art allows to communicate humanly and intensely with the spectator wherever he is, wherever he comes from… Voice, voice, voice!

In 2014, Salto Vocale was awarded the first prize in the 10×10 format at the Bourse aux spectacles in Thun, Switzerland.

CLOWN AND VOCAL ART
WORKSHOP
Bernard Massuir

september 20th and 21st / Municipal Auditorium, Penela / 10 a.m. - 1.00 p.m.

The Voice, the Clown

Inhale, exhale, breathe, then sing.
A few notes, a melody, a polyphony, a chorus.
A beat, a counter-beat, a pulse, a rhythm is born.

Voice, song, rhythm...what if we put the clown to music?

Bernard Massuir offers a workshop for performing arts professionals, students and amateurs who want to discover how clowning can develop around voice and music.

Explore your voice: how can it surprise and make you smile or laugh?
Interpret a song "clown-style" in its fragility, clumsiness, or virtuosity.
Analyze the musical rhythm to find and punctuate the moment that will trigger surprise and laughter.

BERNARD MASSUIR began his theater studies in 1988 at the Lassaad school in Belgium. Actor, clown, musician, composer, singer, vocal acrobat, Bernard Massuir, at heart, enjoys himself on stage, creating comic improvisations and exploring vocal and musical paths that no one knows where they will lead. The performances of this one-man band are known for their unique blend of voice, movement, and minimalist use of instruments, creating a wide variety of sounds and emotional depth, always with humor and lightness. He frequently collaborates with renowned musicians such as Bernard Lubat, André Minvielle, and Bobby McFerrin, and has released his own music works including Itizzz...some sing (1999), La Voix est libre (2006), and Pieces of Peace (2025).
