S.Ó.S.
Movement theatre and film
André Louro, Catarina Santana, Nuno Pino Custódio e Rafael Almeida
The decision to leave the city and go live in the countryside comes with a a radical change. New references, other desires. On the horizon, the paradigm of a slower and isolated life, simpler, closer to what is really essential, is the promise of a stronghold that will, finally, save us from the abyss. But will it really be so?
So why is he distressed by the noises of dogs and birds and makes his insomnia dance with the crowing of cocks while she gives herself so much to the village that she hides in the neighbor's house with whom she has nothing to talk about? Acting, whether about ourselves or about the world around us, is essential for our apprehension of change. But what actually changes when, after all, what exists is an escape from oneself?
Companhia da Chanca, in its 6th production, makes a new incursion into the theme of rurality and living in sparsely populated territories after a decade of experience in this context of interiority. In an inverse perspective to “Sítio” (2015), “S.Ó.S” reports the emigration to the countryside of two characters from the city. The show is divided into movement theater sequences and a short film filmed in the village of Chanca with the participation of its inhabitants.
