João Pidrança
July 10th / Jardim das Gerações, Espinhal / 9:30 pm
Duration 55 min, G.A.
The Other’s Gaze (2025) – 11’50”
We always find a glimmer of emotion in the other’s gaze. On a visual journey through gardens and memories, a boy and a girl exchange glances and silences as they rediscover the innocence, intimacy and vulnerability that adult life seeks to erase. Between nature and nostalgia, the language of the gaze becomes the only possible dictionary for translating raw, unspoken emotions. A sensitive and poetic journey about what it means to let oneself be seen and loved, at the right time.
The Inevitable Breaking of a Glass (2024) – 06'25"
A man, a glass and the fragile balance of existence. The fragility of life occupies the mind of a mysterious man who, with a suitcase by his side, seeks refuge in a glass of red wine and in his words.
The Empty Armchair (2023) – 17'00"
An empty armchair, filled with memories of pensive cigarettes, exists. A stage made of moving images. In this space there is only one setting – the television studio – and within it there is an armchair, empty. The rest are thoughts.
AND THE LIGHT THAT DOES NOT SHINE (2023) – 08'40"
The salt no longer salts. It is cast aside. Thrown away and trampled underfoot by everyone. The last resort is the “light of the world”, and this being that wanders through old corridors seeks that last glimmer of hope, searching in a building left to disuse, just as the salt was, for a way to be illuminated and perhaps, later, to illuminate others.

CIRCUS & DANCE
Oliveira & Bachtler
July 11th / Largo Dr. Luís d’Alarcão Espinhal / 6:00 pm
July 12th / Chanca / 6:00 pm
Duration 55 min, all audiences
Between unstable piles of cut wooden boards, a rope, a table and a trapeze that characterize the scenic space of the abstract world of two beings who offer us a unique perspective, a glimpse of their lives, their motivations, their relationships and habits.
Through the use of circus, physical theater, movement, this show explores the tension and relationship in this universe which, immersed in its own nuances, is processed through acrobatics, juggling, rope, trapeze and manipulation of objects.
"Occasionally baffling, often beautiful and arresting throughout, OTUS certainly deserves to be widely seen.?"
British Theatre Guide
"Bravo to the braveness of OTUS and the imagination of all involved "
Art Scene In Wales
"Otus is a ‘sense-stirringly wonderful’ show that proves the value of harnessing specialist expertise in cross-disciplinary experiments. Neither, as-we-know-it, dance nor circus, the resultant compound is a distinct success."
