PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION Joana Mascarenhas de Almeida
13 th of December / Casa Família Oliveira Guimarães, Penela / 3.30 p.m.
In each room, a story; in each object, a memory that endures.
In the Light of Time is a photographic stroll through the Oliveira Guimarães Family Home, a space inhabited by 255 years of history. From the structural walls to the decoration, from the books and picture frames to the garden plants, this residence holds within itself a temporal continuity that harmonizes the old and the new, the anachronistic and the current, without one canceling out the other.
Here, time does not pass; it remains, inhabiting each room, leaving the marks of its presence. It is a place where memory reveals itself in a poetic and intimate way, in which each ray of light is passed down from generation to generation.
Joana Mascarenhas de Almeida, 21 years old, born in Lisbon, began her training at the António Arroio Art School, where she studied Photography in the Audiovisual Communication course. She later graduated in Anthropology, a stage that enriched her personal development, strengthened her critical thinking, and deepened her understanding of social and cultural dynamics. Simultaneously, she continues to develop her artistic sensibility, cultivating an interest in cinema. She completed a semester in Paris, which included integrating anthropological training with the study of cinema, broadening her field of reflection and creation. Her trajectory has provided an interdisciplinary approach that characterizes her work today.
